Thanks, it works nicely on my old laptop except network, but I should have some PCMCIA and USB network cards somewhere, maybe one of them work.

Nice to hear. What laptop is that?
If you have Android cell phone, you can use it for networking.
Have a look at www.aspireos.com
There is a video there about how to do that.

I have tried to boot 2018 November 13th "AspireOS Live.iso" (burned to CD-RW) on my old Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop (Windows XP-era) with no success.

I tried the ISO in QEMU and it reported error code 0004, which seems to mean "not an El Torito bootable CD" according to https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2008-06/msg00476.html

Elsewhere in that mailing list thread it indicates that bootable CD need to be packed in a special way, and that unpacking, changing files, repacking the ISO can lead to this kind of failure...

The current Icaros Light ISO at least gives me a GRUB menu in QEMU (didn't try booting yet), so I am currently burning that to CD-RW to try on the hardware (which has no DVD, only CD drive).

Claude: Aros does unfortunately not boot on all kind of hardware. AspireOS ISO is for sure working. I tried and other tried it with success. Again AspireOS is only for dedicated hardware.

yes, I've been using aros nikos for years, I wanted to try the fix at da.device, however I'll install as I always did a night build and customize it as I like, I did it with the workbench when I had the amiga 1200, thanks anyway ;)

I took a computer for 30 euros on ebay, it will be compatible, I have never had problems in many years with them, only with what I have now, and say that he has several years on his shoulders

Unless you have AROS already install on internal storage drive, the new version of AspireOS, codename "OBitus" will not boot from optical. Sorry about that. A new release is planed very soon.

PCMCIA cards won't work (not even the ones that work on real Amigas). Some USB NICs should work however.

Have you taken it from yesterday's nightly build on aros.org? (26th november when running 'about').

That is correct Paolo. Use it with Icaros.  More compatible than old version.

Yep, I just made a refresh of Icaros' AROS files with that! Thank you.
