when I connected, a message appeared that the browser would no longer be supported, in fact it happened, I don't want to go into odyssey and existing programmers, but without a browser it is difficult to use what we have left to us users :-X

I think this is the final nail in the AROS' coffin. I don't want to use Windows or Linux, so I think I'll try again Android x86 or maybe an Android box. AROS is useless now. I'm really sad for this.

Youtube videos will still play if you have a direct link to their page; you can't now see the video description, comments or other suggested videos, though. I have the Youtube Center script installed, which may be helping. Also, if you spoof as iPhone you can access the Youtube homepage, although it not showing any thumbnails. As an aside, I was rather surprised that I managed to get into Gmail yesterday by spoofing as iPhone to login and Safari to actually look the mail page itself. Normally the Google web-aps just fail with OWB.

However, OWB is becomming progressively more unusable. Given the impressive advances in the new 'Wayfarer' web-kit derived browser for MorphOS I'm going to be getting a MOS machine for web-browsing. I'd really like to do this after they move to x86/64. but if that's looking too far in the future I may be forced into get an ancient MacBook. As Hollywood is equally happy on both and my primary productivity applications are all still old 68k ones anyway (principally PageStream and FinalCalc) it should be quite easy to run a mixed set of AROS and MorphOS machines.

Cheers,
Nigel.

you cannot run the videos directly, but you can use the online converters also for playlists, "the jacadacaps browser will not have the html 5 player", also I was thinking of financing a new project regarding one new browser jacadacaps it could release it in licensing at least that's what he told me, but we'll talk about that later, but not much later :)

Yes, not being able to play videos directly would be an inconvenience, but one I could live with so long as I could access the majority of sights. Anyway, a liceneced version sounds very interesting, I guess we'll have to see if that comes to anything.

Cheers,
Nigel.

yes I personally wrote to jacadacaps on morphzone and he told me that when he finishes the job he will talk about it regarding the concessions of his new browser :)

That is very interesting, and thank you for opening the communiation channel. Not only does it offer the chance of bringing this browser to AROS, but it may also show it is still possible for the 'camps' to work together, something I think is vital for the survival of all Amigaoid systems but has been very rare of late (although of course the original development of OWB came from MOS to AROS and I think I'm right in saying some aspects of the AROS version fed back to MOS).

However, I think the problem will be when it comes to someone actually making the code work on AROS. From what I've read, getting the browser to work on MOS required making changes within the MOS system itself, so I fear porting to AROS  will be far from straighforward.

Cheers,
Nigel

I don't know I'm not a programmer but from what I understand the work of this new browser has been possible thanks to the new Morphos sdk

@ntromans

yes I learned now that the work on the new browser on MorphOS is proceeding in a beta version of the operating system, so maybe on aros there could be problems to bring it because of zune
