After some bug reports to Neil "AROS Developer" he fixed 2 important things.

1. There been some problems with ata.device. First of all the optical drive on DELL D520 could behave strange. From debug I could see some error messaging about dma error. Not only that, but after boot there was this CD2:bad icon on workbench. It is now gone and everthing is working good. Huge thanks to Neil.

2. After configuring USB devices like joysticks, the configurations where not loaded at startup. It is now working as should.

Odyssey web-browser got a new version of SSL (Secure sockets layer). This means that much more web-pages are working again, like G-mail. Video streaming is not working, but never worked any good anyway. Don't try to play video. It will crash the browser. It is being looked at by our developers. Huge thx to "ch1ll" for making this happen.

I added WHD-Menu ready configured. Our trusty developer "Yannick" did a new version of this program. It is now for you to add Your WHD games to the games folder, inside whdmenu folder and you are ready to play any classic 68k game. I used a lot of time with the Amiga 68k configuration file and should now work as good as possible.

ZuneView got updated. Now much more easy to scale images.

We now have the "Installer". That makes it more easy to install programs that make use of it. Maybe future updates to AspireOS codename "Obitus" will be done that way.

I added the Playstation 1 Emulator. It is working real good with AspireOS. Also configured by me for best possible experience.

There been some reports about the AspireOS archive being corruped. It realy was not, but you needed a recent version of rar archiver that supports rar4. I then decided to not pack With rar4 anymore to prevent that problem from happening.

Paolo: Take ata.device in Devs: from AspireOS and use in Icaros. It is a fixed version that will not only fix the problem on D520 but also other hardware. Neil already commited the new startup-sequence for abi v.0 where psdstackloader is loaded at startup. This makes usb devices configurations load at startup.

I had to do a little update. Sorry to the people that already downloaded. The change is in WHD-Menu.
There where some files missing, like the aros kickstart. Also a little change to the configuration file.

I'm also updating www.aspireos.com
It will now be friendly to different screen resolutions, like cell phones.

AspireOS is only for dedicated hardware. Not for virtual players. Use Icaros Desktop.

Thank you and respect, in my opinion this will greatly slow down the spread of AspireOS, few are to have compatible hardware, many people use a viral machine to test

Thanks. I will look into it. Is this a particular version of ata.device I may use for generic hardware, or has it been fixed for D520 only?

You are absolutly right.
It might at the same time make people buy dedicated hardware and use AspireOS as it is intended.
I like AspireOS to show how good AROS can be. I have tried AROS in all kind of enviroments and nothing is
close to native.
I also bring forward what Amiga originaly was. Sure things changed in computer world, but it is still not plug and play to use all kind
of hardware with a OS.
I'm absolutly sure that if you buy a computer inteded to be used with a OS, you will use it more and enjoy it more.
Running a OS in a virtual enviroment or hosted is more for developers and to test stuff.

When I do a dedicated version, I can set up everything for that hardware, ready for users to enjoy.
My idea of AROS is this, but great we have others like Icaros Desktop that is
for everything. The difference beween Icaros Desktop and AspireOS is not that big anyway. It is first of all a matter
of programs included and configurations.

It is for all kind of hardware. Just look at it as a fixed version. abi v.0

Thanks, it works nicely on my old laptop except network, but I should have some PCMCIA and USB network cards somewhere, maybe one of them work.

Nice to hear. What laptop is that?
If you have Android cell phone, you can use it for networking.
Have a look at www.aspireos.com
There is a video there about how to do that.

I have tried to boot 2018 November 13th "AspireOS Live.iso" (burned to CD-RW) on my old Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop (Windows XP-era) with no success.

I tried the ISO in QEMU and it reported error code 0004, which seems to mean "not an El Torito bootable CD" according to https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2008-06/msg00476.html

Elsewhere in that mailing list thread it indicates that bootable CD need to be packed in a special way, and that unpacking, changing files, repacking the ISO can lead to this kind of failure...

The current Icaros Light ISO at least gives me a GRUB menu in QEMU (didn't try booting yet), so I am currently burning that to CD-RW to try on the hardware (which has no DVD, only CD drive).

Claude: Aros does unfortunately not boot on all kind of hardware. AspireOS ISO is for sure working. I tried and other tried it with success. Again AspireOS is only for dedicated hardware.

Unless you have AROS already install on internal storage drive, the new version of AspireOS, codename "OBitus" will not boot from optical. Sorry about that. A new release is planed very soon.

PCMCIA cards won't work (not even the ones that work on real Amigas). Some USB NICs should work however.

Hi Amigasystem

AspireOS and updates go into the aros archives.

http://archives.aros-exec.org/

When I upload a file it first go into the upload que. After around 1 day it can be found in the "recent published files"

First I made a link to the upload que URL. That is why it did not work when you tried, as it went to the "published files" and got a new URL.

It is now fixed. The link from my web-page should now be good.

If you have any other problems please notify me. Thx for the interest.
