This morning I wanted to install the native AROS 68k version from Contrib, and I must say that it works well even if there are some incompatibilities, compared to the OS3 version the AROS Contrib version is much more advanced, I Workbench looks like both Workbench 3.9 and Ambient of MOS.

Initially I struggled a bit, Scalos AROS has problems in saving preferences, and does not support Dual-PNG icons.

In the end I solved it by converting my Dual-PNG icons to OS4 icons (Power Icons), formatted widely supported, I attach first Scalos di Contrib AROS 68k č molto pių aggiornata della versione OS3, tempo fa avevo provato ad installarlo sul mio AROS One 68k ma e non andava bene, avevo utilizzato la versione OS3.

Integrated Scalos in AROS One 68k, probably I'll create a script for the switch between the two OS.

This version of Scalos as said looks very similar to OS3.9/Ambient and is more advanced than Wanderer, of course something must be improved to eliminate some small graphical slowdown in opening windows and applications, but this I think will disappear when the video drives will be well supported.

In the meantime I will have to convert all the Dual-PNG icons to PowerIcon OS4 in order to have the right icons working.

I attach screenshot with ArosOne 68k + Scalos

What is your experience?

I have zune related problems with the different preferences. I just try to use filetypes but unfortunately my system freezes when scrolling down the list. Scalos port is very old (years ago) perhaps there  are changes that affect it. Besides that I like it. It is very configurable and flexible and propably not as different as magellan.

My installation uses the file types I have configured on the icons for Wanderer, what file types are you unable to configure?
About Zune, if you're referring to Zuneprefs I haven't tested it yet, as soon as I test it I'll let you know.

Scalos prefs saves are crashing, use Save As !

ZunePrefs requires the right libraries .mui and .mcc, usually these are the ones that crash Zuneprefs, it rarely happens to me when I speed up the changes too much!

I have created multiple configurations based on the needs.

No I think there is a misunderstanding. Scalos includes a filetype preference editor that is similar to what you can do with magellan. You have two pages there one for identifying, one for action (I assume what happen when doubleclick). There is also a menu editor where you can define the main menu but also context menus (again like in magellan). I currently struggle with both because I get errors when starting or it freezes when using  :(

Can you check if this is also happening in case of 64-bit AROS?

Yes, but Scalos in any case uses the datatypes to recognize and execute the various types of files, the filetype Scalos intervenes only when a file does not have a def_icon defined by the system, otherwise you need the Filetype Preference.

Filetype Preference Scalos works fine for me, I just need to figure out how to associate the files !

About Zune I've created a little video that shows how it works well on AROS 68k

OlafS3, as you can see from the screenshot Scalos' FileType associates def_Icons and uses datatypes to open any format like a normal Workbench and Wanderer !
