Title: Sharing For AROS
Post by: miker1264 on July 04, 2019, 06:17:59 PM
Personally I'm guilty! I have been working on a pet project off and on for about 10 years now. It's a large, complex Disk Image program for use with VirtualBox. It's called Virtual Disk Image Explorer.

I'm almost done with it. But I hesitate to release it. What if it isn't good enough? What if no one uses my program? What if I get negative feedback?

I realize these are all excuses. I will release it on CodeProject before the end of the year. The same applies to programs for AROS. If you have written a program no matter how large or how small for AROS, simply share it. Then everyone can use it.

The C# Disk Image Explorer program just needs about a month of fine tuning. I can certainly give a brief overview of it on Code Project. I'm currently working on a few things for AROS such as modifications to MultiView to make it more stable on 64bit, the bmp datatype which is still a work-in-progress, and most recently I've started a very ambitious project that involves fixing up the 64bit AROS version of FileMaster which is a well known File Manager originally developed between 1996 and 2000. It was intended for Classic Amigas but nowadays there are versions for Amiga, Morph OS and now AROS. The version in the AROS sources was not working on 64bit and it worked somewhat on AROS 32bit (Icaros Desktop). FileMaster certainly has possibilities.

I haven't worked on RayStorm much lately though I will make an effort to do so soon. I'm currently fixing a few key pieces of software for AROS including the MultiView update, BMP datatype, ILBM datatype, PCX and TGA datatypes, and some fixes for the 64bit version of FileMaster. So I've been quite busy .

salvo

I'm gaining valuable experience working with other parts of AROS. So then I can apply that experience to RayStorm as soon as rrach a convenient stopping point on other projects.

But there are many things that AROS needs such as working DataTypes and MultiView that won't crash on AROS 64bit and AROS 68k. But there will be time for RayStorm as well. :-)
