Title: icaros status
Post by: amigamia on March 18, 2022, 08:42:13 PM
Hello gents,

Is icaros Desktop dead or just dormant? Last news from Paolo is from more than a year ago on the web blog https://vmwaros.blogspot.com/ (https://vmwaros.blogspot.com/)

Paolo has popped in here from time to time. I would assume things are just moving very slowly at the moment.

Anywhere to get the Live DVD?

The old links seem to no longer work.

They work for me. Try these direct links:

It's progressing at a very slooooooow pace, sorry for that. I'm also considering to suspend the Patreon page for a while, just not to take people's money without giving back some concrete stuff to enjoy.

Fact is that my "second job" as a journalist has risen back, due to incremented collaboration with The Games Machine (www.thegamesmachine.it) and now with "my own" magazine (well, that was my first publishing love), Zzap! (www.zzapmagazine.it), so very little time remains for Icaros.

At the moment I am still collecting new AROS software and testing it. But after two years I still consider current Icaros "stable enough" and no obsolete at all.

I am very sad to read that statement Paolone, after just discovering the AROS "world".
If you do retire from icaros, can you put the beer money towards the magazine subscription?   ;)

(Life is far to short to be serious)

Why? Isn't it working anymore? On which distribution? Please remember Icaros only supports debian-based distros like Ubuntu, Mint etc.

Yes I knew ifconfig was abandoned, but still available with a package, that Icaros manages to install.

Thanks Paolone. Hopefully in between your two main jobs you can find sometime to release some Icaros updates. Thanks for all you do. It is very much appreciated.
